SIL-06 (pre Diameter 60A) has greater absorption properties than SIL-12 (pore diameter 120A) due to its larger specific surface area, and is generally useful for separating natural products with a low molecular weight. Although water or acetic acid can be used as an additive to the mobile phase, they are likely to bind to silanol. In consideration of separation reproducibility, it is preferable to have one column dedicated to the mbile phase containing water or acetic acid.
